Pini Vaknin of the Dan Tel Aviv was awarded the prize as the restaurant manager providing the best service in Israel, and the \u00abLa Regance\u00bb chef Resturant at the King David Hotel in Jerusalem, was included in the guide\u2019s list of the 20 finest restaurants in the country<\/strong><\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_3416\" style=\"width: 770px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.danhotels.com\/Blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/hdr.jpg\" rel=\"lightbox-0\" role=\"button\" aria-haspopup=\"dialog\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-3416\" class=\"wp-image-3416 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.danhotels.com\/Blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/hdr.jpg\" alt=\"hdr\" width=\"760\" height=\"500\" data-id=\"3416\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-3416\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Roast shoulder of lamb, purple potatoes, parsley cream and peas, the La R\u00e9gence Restaurant, Chef David Biton<\/p><\/div>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">After an absence of 15 years, French restaurant guide<strong> Gault &amp; Millau<\/strong> (second only to the Michelin Guide in importance), has returned to Israel, and at a ceremony held in the presence of France\u2019s Ambassador to Israel and the President of <strong>Gault &amp; Millau<\/strong> Come de Cerisey, the year\u2019s best restaurants were announced, as was the chef of the year. In addition, the guide published its complete list of Israel\u2019s top restaurants. The<strong> Dan Tel Aviv\u2019s &#8216;Hayarkon 99&#8217;<\/strong>, managed by <strong>Pini Vaknin<\/strong>, received the award for best service in Israel, while the <strong>King David<\/strong> Jerusalem\u2019s <strong>&#8216;La R\u00e9gence&#8217;\u00a0<\/strong>was listed among the country\u2019s 20 best restaurants.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">As<strong> Haim A. Spiegel, Director of Food &amp; Beverage<\/strong> and Procurement for the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.danhotels.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Dan Hotels<\/a><\/strong> Chain, remarks: \u201cI received an invitation to attend the prize ceremony, and I was accompanied by <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.danhotels.com\/TelAvivHotels\/DanAccadiaHerzliyaHotel\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Dan Accadia<\/a> Herzliya<\/strong> Executive <strong>Chef Golan Israeli<\/strong>. It was agreed upon in advance that I would hand out one of the 12 prizes, but I had no idea which. When I arrived, I met<strong> Pini Vaknin<\/strong> of the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.danhotels.com\/TelAvivHotels\/DanTelAvivHotel\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Dan Tel Aviv<\/a><\/strong> and I assumed that he was invited in his capacity as manager of that hotel\u2019s <strong>Hayarkon 99 bistro<\/strong>. We all were elated when Pini was called to the stage to receive such a prestigious award. Chef David Biton<\/p><\/div>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201c<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.danhotels.com\/JerusalemHotels\/KingDavidJerusalemHotel\/Restaurants\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The La R\u00e9gence Restaurant<\/a><\/strong> at the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.danhotels.com\/JerusalemHotels\/KingDavidJerusalemHotel\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">King David<\/a><\/strong> Hotel, Jerusalem was cited as one of Israel\u2019s top-20 restaurants, and the hotel staff, headed by chefs <strong>David Biton<\/strong> and <strong>Ahmed Salame<\/strong> deserve heartfelt compliments for this achievement. The prizes and citations compel all of us to work even harder, to preserve these important accomplishments.\u201d<br \/>\nTen anonymous researchers from <strong>Gault &amp; Millau<\/strong> surveyed over 200 restaurants this past year. About 130 of them ended up being listed, including 35 more \u201cpopular\u201d restaurants that weren\u2019t graded and didn\u2019t receive a chef\u2019s toque, but received a warm recommendation (Abu Hassan and Hanan Margilan, for example).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The new, 300-page guide is in four languages (Hebrew, English, French and Russian), and for the first time, its researchers recommended 30 excellent local wines.
