Hotel Dan Carmel Haifa

The Bahai Gardens - Haifa
The beauty of Haifa is a constant delight. The city crowns the ridges of Mount Carmel, sloping down to a wide curving bay, sandy beaches and richly wooded hills. An important anchorage for sailors and traders since the 14th Century BCE, Haifa is filled with mosques, churches, and holy sites. The Bahai Gardens in Haifa is regarded by many as the eighth wonder of the world. Unmatched for harmonious botanical beauty anywhere in the Middle East, the gardens are a splendid spectacle on the slopes of Mount Carmel. Their magic can be experienced by strolling from the Dan Panorama hillside, as far as the restored German Colony neighborhood.

Various Haifa Sites
For the active tourist, Haifa brings rich rewards. To discover its exceptional topography, follow the many stairways running from the Carmel ridge to the sea. The aerial gondola that glides from Stella Maris to the seashore is another enjoyable way of viewing the city. Haifa's museums are plentiful and tucked away all over the city, focusing on subjects as diverse as Far Eastern art and maritime history.

A city of superb beaches immaculately tended, with pleasant promenades for strolling, Haifa is also known as the pearl of the north. Fifteen minutes along the coast and you reach the walled Crusader town of Acre. Continue further north along the sea to the wave-sculpted grottos of Rosh Hanikra. Inland from Haifa are Druze villages, the Sea of Galilee, Nazareth, Safed and Tiberias, all within easy reach.

EIN HOD - Artists' Village

Located on the western slopes of Mount Carmel, overlooking the Mediterranean sea shore and the Crusaders' castle of Atlit, Ein Hod Artists' Village was established in 1953 by artist Marcel Janco - a well known member of the Dada movement - as an art center for practising artists from Israel and abroad. Today, some ninety artist members working in all fields of the plastic arts and crafts live and work in the Village and exhibit in the central gallery and other spaces.

The gallery which boasts one of the country's largest collections of Israeli Art, is pluralistic in nature, combining individual and group exhibitions of both the younger and older generation as well as theme shows.

The Village sponsors special art projects such as the Ein Hod Scupture Biennale, the Artists' Exchange program, changing group exhibitions in the central gallery presented by guest curators, special exhibits and solo shows in the Artists' House, workshops for children and adults, guest lectures and concerts.
