The chain, which already has 13 hotels situated in prime locations around the country, announced this morning that it has signed an agreement to purchase the Regency Hotel Jerusalem on Mount Scopus at a cost of $ 47 million.
The hotel, which was founded in 1985 by Jewish investors from Mexico, consists of 505 guestrooms and suites, conference facilities for business or family events and the largest spa in the city. It also stands high up on Mount Scopus and offers wonderful views of Jerusalem and the surrounding areas. Known already for its high standard of hospitality, the Dan chain will ensure that this new acquisition will reach the same high quality of accommodation and service.
Ami Hirschstein, President of the Dan Hotels chain said today; "Since its inception over 60 years ago, the Dan Hotels has believed in promoting tourism to Israel through the deployment of hotels nationwide with a focus on Jerusalem. We are confident that there is a great future for tourism to Israel in general and to Jerusalem in particular and today we are proud to include the largest hotel in Jerusalem into our chain, making this our fourth hotel in the capital. The timing of the transaction on the 43rd anniversary of Jerusalem Day is very symbolic for us and attests to the deep connection between the Dan Hotel chain and the city. We realized the necessity to increase the supply of existing hotel rooms in Jerusalem and are looking forward to welcoming the many tourists who love Israel and visit throughout the year from all over the world."
