Thailand comes to Tel Aviv
The reception area of the Dan Panorama Convention Center was transformed on Thursday evening as The Royal Thai Embassy in Tel Aviv opened the 2008 Thai Festival in Israel, organized in cooperation with the Dan Hotels Israel, Haifa Municipality and The Old Jaffa Development Co.
Colorful and interesting stalls lined the hall, offering guests the opportunity to buy from a selection of Thai handicrafts, such as beautifully decorated fans, umbrellas, shawls and superbly crafted vases.
After the cocktail reception in the presence of Thailand’s Ambassador, H.E. Mr. Chatchawed Chartsuwan, the 200 guests were invited into the ballroom to view the screening of a magnificent film of Thailand at its best, before enjoying the superb gala dinner prepared by hotel Executive Chef Micky Nir together with Charoenchai Chiriyathorn, the Thai chef who was flown in especially for the event. The delicious buffet of authentic Thai cuisine was followed by live entertainment consisting of Thai dancers in bright and exotic costumes, and displays of Thai boxing and martial arts. A female Thai singer provided a beautiful rendition of Jerusalem of Gold to close the proceedings.
In addition to this opening night the Dan hotel chain is hosting two more gala dinners during the week – one on July 21st in the Dan Carmel Haifa and the other in the Dan Accadia Hotel, situated by the beach in Herzliya on July 22nd. Both evenings will provide the same high level of Thai cuisine and lively entertainment as the opening evening in Tel Aviv, as well as an experience of the unique “Dan Hotel” hospitality.
The 2008 Thai Festival aims at promoting better understanding between Israelis and the Thais through spectacular cultural events, including Thai cuisine, Thai music and traditional dance, arts and handicrafts.
