President Bush at the King David, Jerusalem
The management and staff of the prestigious King David Hotel, Jerusalem were delighted to welcome USA President George Bush together with Secretary of State, Condoleezza Rice at the beginning of January for a two night stay. Together with their delegation they occupied all of the hotel’s 237 guestrooms, conference rooms and dining areas.
President Bush’s first visit to the King David was in 1998 when he was Governor of the State of Texas and once again stayed in the Royal Suite. Other guests who have enjoyed the luxury and comfort of the Royal Suite in the past include the late Egyptian President, Anwar Sadat; King Hussein of Jordan; Presidents of the USA Gerald Ford, Jimmy Carter, George Bush (senior) Bill and Hilary Clinton; previous Secretaries of State Henry Kissinger, Madeleine Allbright; Prime Ministers of Britain, Winston Churchill, Harold Wilson, Margaret Thatcher, John Major and Tony Blair.
All went well during their stay and as can be seen from the entry in the hotel's guest book the party left very satisfied with the "Dan" experience.
Staff at the hotel noticed that President Bush likes to eat healthy items such as wild berries and dried fruits but he also loved the King David's yellow cheese with nuts. Mr. Bush also told Michael Federmann, President of the Dan Hotels Corporation, that he has a beautiful hotel !
